Chestnut is a cold-hardy crabapple variety. Blooms mid season. Ready to harvest in September. Hardy to zone 3. Considered partially self-fertile meaning that a tree can produce some fruit on its own without a pollinator, but its yield, fruit size, and overall quality are significantly improved when another compatible apple variety blooms nearby. Some examples of compatible trees would be Liberty, Freedom or Honeycrisp.
