Richard Hodges

Program Manager

Richard is the Founder and Program Manager of ReTreeUS. He became inspired to create orchards in schools through many experiences as an outdoor educator and farmer in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, California and Costa Rica. He is dedicated to empowering the younger generations to grow their own food sustainably and care for the environment. Richard has a BA from the University of Vermont, is a Master Gardener, a certified Permaculture Designer and graduate of Maine’s Sustainable Food System Leadership Institute. When Richard is not working in orchards and gardens he is likely to be surfing, xc skiing or spending time outside with

his family and dogs.

Shelley Kruszewski

Program Coordinator

Shelley is the Program Coordinator at ReTreeUS. She has a master’s degree in Community Planning and Development with a focus on land use, food system planning and the environment from the Muskie School of Public Service and a B.A. from UNH. Shelley has a background in land conservation and management, previously working at the Androscoggin Land Trust and Association of State Wetland Managers. She has worked with youth at outdoor adventure camps, after school programs and as a nanny. She is currently a Councilor on the Good Food Council of LA. When she is not working with schools and ReTreeUS partners, she is likely to be hiking or at the beach with her family including two energetic dogs.
